Lafayette has so much to offer – a vibrantly creative arts scene, an unlimited adventure for food lovers, and the top free music festivals. As the sun cools down, a new season of incredible music is here. When we welcome those gentle, fall breezes in late summer, we know it is time to head downtown at the end of our work week to celebrate at Downtown Alive!
Potty Girl’s joyful partnership with Downtown Alive! (DTA!) is a treat and collaboration with Downtown Lafayette’s Kate Durio, Director of Marketing and Events.
Kate Durio was awarded the International Downtown Association Award of Excellence in Public Space from the Creativity Everywhere Program. Congratulations Kate!
Meet the stylish and inspiring woman behind her stunning smile.
We asked Kate a few questions so you can get acquainted with her.
What is your motivational work ethic?
I play a small part in the much bigger effort of celebrating and preserving our culture in Acadiana. It’s a humbling experience and I feel so fortunate to help put on Downtown Alive! every Friday. I’m motivated by all of the talent around me. The musicians I get to meet and work with, our production team that is constantly pushing us forward creatively and collaboratively and our Downtown community that provides the best backdrop and support system for our events.
If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?
Cloning. If I could replicate some of our talented team members, we could be unstoppable.
Is your glass half full or half empty? What is in your glass?
I like to see the glass half full because that means there’s always room for improvement but that you’ve earned where you are. Tall drink of water!
What is your favorite holiday and why?
My favorite holiday is Mardi Gras because of the festive feeling in the air. Everyone’s out. Everyone’s dressed up and it’s so supremely Louisiana. What’s not to like?
What makes you the happiest in life?
I love being in cities. Especially new ones. I love not knowing what is around the corner and what impact it may have in my life, or with my job, what impact it may later cause me to try to implement in Lafayette. When I can’t get out to another city, I’m happiest hanging out with my little niece, Rebecca.
