An early morning means that it is time to check Ean’s blood sugar before sunrise. At 14 months, he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). TID is a chronic, autoimmune disease that Ean’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. This can be managed with careful blood sugar monitoring, but no cure as of yet.
Every year Ean, his family and friends support JDRF One Walk in the neighboring community of Youngsville, Louisiana. Potty Girl is part of Team Ean and this sponsorship is vital to raise funds and awareness for T1D.
This is Ean’s story
JDRF One Walk is the largest fundraising and awareness event in the world. The organization funds research with the possibility of creating a better quality of life with hopes of a cure.
Roughly 40,000 people are diagnosed with T1D each year in the US and JDRF has invested $2 billion in T1D research projects worldwide over the past 45 years.
We look forward to the day that Type 1 Diabetes is preventable and curable. So please come and join Potty Girl and #TeamEan for this exciting event to raise awareness for T1D every October.
