We all agree that a little competition never hurt, right? Gratitude can be the game changer even in the portable toilet industry. When we are too focused on winning, we miss being in the present moment. All too often being distracted with the frustration that you are not the "number one" player or disappointed you didn't score is a disadvantage for being mindful in any competition.
Better performance means fully training, not only your physical body, but your mind also. In sports, 90 percent of performance is your mental attitude. The valuable prefrontal cortex is the prime real estate that makes your brain create that calm and alert state of mind. To become a better player in the game, the mindful competitors use the “Attitude of Gratitude”.

Go ahead and cultivate awareness when you feel that you are on auto-pilot. A few deep breaths and notice how your body is not paying attention to physical or mental cues. This will take you into the present moment by being mindful and showing gratitude towards yourself.
“Let the game come to you. Be quick, but don't hurry.” - Earl Monroe
Before any competition, make a list of three things you are grateful for and love about what you are about to do. Maintain your focus on what you are thankful for in the game. Afterwards, reflect on your gratitude of the three things you wrote down.

There will come a time when you do make a mistake or lose. Look at that experience as a lesson and be gentle to yourself or use laughter to move through it. It is compassionate to allow yourself to grieve, forgive yourself, and move on from the experience with gratitude.
